The Hamnet Way is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and operational management of a children''s residential home.
This role is ideal for an established residential childcare professional who combines strong safeguarding knowledge, operational capability and people leadership with a genuine commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes for children.
About the Role
Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will support the safe, effective and compliant operation of the home while maintaining a visible leadership presence within the service.
You will lead staff teams, drive quality standards, support continuous improvement and ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Leadership & Operations
- Leading shifts and ensuring effective service delivery.
- Managing staffing arrangements and operational priorities.
- Deputising for the Registered Manager.
- Participating in the on-call rota.
- Supporting service development and improvement plans.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintaining Ofsted readiness.
- Completing audits and quality assurance activities.
- Monitoring records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Supporting implementation of policies and procedures.
People Leadership
- Mentoring, coaching and developing staff.
- Supporting supervision and performance management processes.
- Promoting accountability and professional practice.
- Embedding a positive and reflective team culture.
Safeguarding & Care
- Maintaining a strong safeguarding culture.
- Supporting therapeutic and trauma-informed practice.
- Ensuring children receive high-quality, individualised care.
- Promoting positive outcomes and stability.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in children''s residential care.
- Experience leading teams and shifts.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Existing Deputy Manager experience.
- Working towards or holding a Level 5 qualification.
- Experience supporting inspections and quality improvement initiatives.
