Are you already working in children’s residential care and ready to take the next step in your management career?
We are recruiting an experienced Deputy Manager to work alongside the Registered Manager of a children’s residential home in Derby.
This is a genuine leadership role where you will be involved in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting and developing the staff team and helping to maintain strong standards across safeguarding, care, compliance and Ofsted readiness.
You will still remain connected to the children and young people you support, while taking greater responsibility for the quality and consistency of the service.
What you’ll be doing
-
Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home
-
Leading, supervising and developing the staff team
-
Helping the home achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating
-
Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child-centred care
-
Reviewing care plans, risk assessments and placement documentation
-
Monitoring staff practice, performance and staffing levels
-
Completing audits and identifying areas for improvement
-
Supporting staff through incidents and challenging situations
-
Working closely with social workers, families and other professionals
-
Ensuring practice meets the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
-
Taking responsibility and providing leadership in the Registered Manager’s absence
What we are looking for
You will need previous experience within children’s residential care, together with experience of supervising, mentoring or managing staff.
You should have a good understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted expectations and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and be confident making decisions, managing challenging situations and maintaining high standards across the home.
We are looking for someone who can lead by example, support a team and remain calm, organised and child-focused when things get difficult.
Qualifications
Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a relevant Residential Childcare leadership and management qualification.
If the client specifically requires the Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, I would state that here as essential rather than burying it further down the advert.
Right to Work
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for this position.
Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available.
