Are you passionate about ensuring research and educational environments operate safely and compliantly?

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Health and Safety Manager to support the delivery of effective safety management within a leading physics department for a top university. This role involves working closely with the Department Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement safety policies, oversee statutory compliance and foster a strong safety culture across all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with developing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies aligned with legal and university standards.
• Oversee statutory compliance for equipment and research areas, ensuring remedial actions are completed promptly.
• Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and assessments, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
• Manage the administration of safety activities, including meetings, documentation, and safety inductions.

You will need:

• A strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to research-led environments.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, with commitment to pursuing the NEBOSH Diploma
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to liaise effectively with staff, students, and external contractors.
• Proven organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple safety activities simultaneously.
