Deputy Head of Capital Projects

OverviewSenior Manager / Deputy to Head of Estates Capital Projects sought for the NHS Trusts Estates Capital Projects team. The role is site based, full time, and requires a strong track record in delivering Capital construction projects within NHS Healthcare environments or similar in the built environment.
As the Deputy to the Head of Estates Capital Projects, you will report directly to the Head of Estates Capital Projects and contribute to minimising operational impact on the Trust while developing systems and processes to ensure best practice across capital projects.
The team delivers the physical environment aspect of the Trust''s capital programme and supports the implementation of Capital projects in line with organisational objectives.
Responsibilities
You will support and line manage the Capital Project Team and work alongside other senior managers to deliver the capital programme and the Estates Backlog projects across the Trust sites.
You will work with Trust stakeholders to develop schemes, with responsibilities for procurement, control of design teams, and accountability for financial performance, programme, quality delivery and supporting on business case development.
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree or equivalent in a Construction related field and evidence of CPD.
Degree in Engineering or building related subjects.
Full Membership of a Professional Institution or, minimum 5 years of Senior Management experience in Healthcare Capital Projects.
Experience of managing, planning and budgeting for multiple, large and complex Healthcare Capital Projects.
Skills and Abilities
Effective management of people in the Estates Capital Team.
Financial analysis and management skills; ability to monitor procurement and project financial performance.
Political awareness, diplomacy and the ability to delegate while retaining accountability.
Project Management skills and the ability to provide expert advice with precision in action plans.
Desirable
Knowledge of the NHS structure and its application within the Trust.
Project Management skills and management qualifications.
Other RequirementsDisclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this post. The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a DBS disclosure will be sought where appropriate. UK Registration is required to work in the UK.
