Deputy Care Manager - Elderly and Dementia Care

Salary - £36,000 - £37,000

Are you an experienced senior carer or deputy manager looking for your next step in dementia care? A well-regarded residential care home in St Albans is looking for a Deputy Care Manager to support the Registered Manager in delivering person-centred care to older people, including those living with dementia.
 
The role
 
You will work alongside the Registered Manager to lead the care team day to day, making sure every resident receives safe, compassionate and dignified care. You will step up to run the home in the manager''s absence, and you will play a key part in maintaining high standards and CQC compliance.
 
Key responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, and deputise when needed
• Lead, supervise and motivate care staff, including rotas, supervisions, appraisals and training
• Oversee care planning, risk assessments and reviews, making sure they''re person-centred and up to date
• Promote best practice in dementia care, including meaningful activities and positive behaviour support
• Monitor medication management, audits and record-keeping
• Make sure the home meets CQC standards and supports inspection readiness
• Build strong relationships with residents, families, GPs, social workers and other professionals
• Handle safeguarding concerns, incidents and complaints in line with policy
• Carry out pre-admission assessments and help new residents settle in
• Work hands-on shifts when needed, leading by example

• Experience in a senior carer, team leader or deputy manager role within elderly or dementia care
• NVQ / RQF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (essential), with Level 5 either held or in progress (desirable)
• Solid knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act, including DoLS
• Confident with care planning, audits and medication management
• A warm, supportive leader who can motivate a team and hold them to high standards
• Calm under pressure, well organised and a clear communicator
• A genuine passion for improving the lives of older people and those living with dementia
