Salary: -40,000 - -45,000 DOE
Location: Exeter
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 17:00
My client provides end-to-end supply chain and transportation solutions, specialising in freight management, warehousing, and distribution. The company is focused on optimising logistics operations to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for its clients.
The Role:
We are seeking an individual to oversee the operational, financial, and compliance functions of the depot, implementing systems and procedures to improve efficiency and overall performance. You will lead and support staff to ensure duties are carried out in line with company policies, while providing ongoing training and coaching to support development. The role also includes full responsibility for the ownership and compliance of the Exeter O''Licence, as well as driving profitability through business development and strengthening existing client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily collection and delivery operations, ensuring KPIs and service levels are consistently achieved
- Manage depot financial performance, including P&L, cost control, and forecasting
- Lead and develop operational teams, ensuring effective resource planning and performance management
- Drive operational efficiency by improving processes, communication, and working practices
- Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure service delivery meets agreed SLAs
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, legal, and company policies
- Monitor fleet maintenance, tachographs, and compliance reporting
- Support senior management with reporting, contingency planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven management experience within the logistics sector, with strong knowledge of network distribution
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety and compliance standards
- IT literate, with experience using operational systems
- Strong organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines
- Customer-focused, with a commitment to high service standards
- Excellent people management and development skills
- Strong communication and influencing abilities
- High attention to detail and procedural awareness
- Good geographical knowledge of the South West
Package & Benefits:
- -40,000 - -45,000 (DOE)
