NEOS Engineering are working with a successful specialist equipment hire business who are looking to appoint an experienced Depot Manager to lead their Birmingham operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced depot, branch, or operations professional from the plant hire, equipment rental, or engineering sector who is looking to take ownership of a busy site and drive operational performance, customer service, and team development.

The business provides specialist equipment hire solutions to customers across the construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure sectors, supporting projects with a wide range of machinery, attachments, and associated services. With a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and technical support, they are looking for a hands-on leader to help deliver continued growth.

The Role:

• Full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the depot

• Leading and developing a team across hire desk, operations, and engineering support

• Managing depot performance, utilisation, profitability, and customer satisfaction

• Overseeing equipment availability, maintenance coordination, and fleet standards

• Building strong relationships with key customers and supporting business growth

• Ensuring smooth coordination of deliveries, collections, servicing, and repairs

• Driving operational improvements and maintaining high service standards

• Monitoring compliance, health & safety, and company procedures

• Supporting recruitment, training, and development of the depot team

The Person:

• Proven experience managing a depot, branch, or operational function within plant hire, equipment rental, or a similar industry

• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams

• Commercially aware with the ability to improve performance and identify opportunities

• Good understanding of equipment hire operations and customer service

• Organised, proactive, and confident making operational decisions

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach

Desirable:

• Background in plant hire, construction equipment, attachments, or heavy machinery

• Experience managing hire desks, engineers, drivers, or field service teams

• Strong knowledge of fleet management and equipment maintenance processes

• Previous Depot Manager, Branch Manager, Operations Manager, or Hire Manager experience

The Package:

• Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience

• Monday–Friday working pattern
