Jackson Hogg are delighted to be partnering with Nixon Hire in the recruitment of a Depot Manager for their Nottingham operation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational leader to take ownership of a busy depot, driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and commercial performance. Reporting to the Regional Director, the Depot Manager will lead and develop the depot team, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, health & safety compliance, and profitability.

Whether you have experience within the hire sector, logistics, distribution, transport, or another fast-paced operational environment, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a market-leading organisation.

The Role

As Depot Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the depot, ensuring all deliveries, installations, and customer service activities are completed to the highest standard. You will lead from the front, creating a high-performing culture focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a multi-disciplinary depot team.
  • Driving exceptional customer service standards and building strong customer relationships.
  • Ensuring all customer installations, deliveries, and collections are completed in line with operational processes and company standards.
  • Overseeing depot transport activities to ensure efficient and profitable service delivery.
  • Managing depot Profit & Loss performance, controlling costs and maximising operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring and improving depot KPIs, service levels, and operational performance.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies.
  • Conducting regular safety inspections and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Supporting employee wellbeing while fostering a positive, engaged, and motivated workforce.
  • Working collaboratively with regional and national teams to achieve business objectives.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience managing teams within an operational, logistics, distribution, transport, hire, or service-led environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • A proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering against KPIs.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budget management and P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritise workloads.
  • Strong IT and systems skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience within the equipment rental/hire sector.
  • Knowledge of transport operations, fleet management, or service delivery functions.
