DCS Engineer
Wolviston Management Services are recruiting on behalf of Tioxide Materials Ltd for an experienced DCS Engineer to join the Site Engineering team at their manufacturing facility in Greatham, Hartlepool.
This is a specialist control systems role supporting the safe, reliable and effective operation of the site''s DCS and PLC systems. Reporting to the Process Automation Manager, you will combine routine system maintenance and breakdown support with continuous improvement and the implementation of control-system changes arising from capital projects and technical improvement programmes.
The Role
Working within a 24/7 process manufacturing environment, you will take responsibility for maintaining, monitoring and improving critical control-system infrastructure while ensuring all work complies with site cyber security, EHS and corporate requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out routine maintenance on site DCS and PLC systems, including data backups, hardware condition monitoring, file housekeeping and user-interface equipment renewals.
- Developing and implementing DCS code changes, ensuring modifications are robustly tested before being made live.
- Analysing DCS performance data, investigating anomalies and monitoring control-system security and availability.
- Preparing control-system KPIs and routine performance reports.
- Developing and modifying sequences, alarms and reports in line with user requirements.
- Testing system upgrades to ensure compatibility and satisfactory performance with existing systems.
- Coordinating the control-system Management of Change process.
- Supporting the implementation of the site''s control-system improvement plan.
- Providing breakdown support to control-system users, including a degree of out-of-hours support. DCS Engineer

About You
We are looking for an experienced control-systems professional with a strong background in DCS, PLC and process automation.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Engineering, Advanced Process Control or a related discipline, or an equivalent vocational qualification.
- A minimum of 10 years'' experience within a control-system environment, ideally supporting a 24/7 chemical or process-manufacturing operation.
- Strong experience in DCS and PLC process automation.
- Knowledge of firewalls, network management and software programming languages.
- The ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- A strong commitment to technical standards, compliance and safe working.
