Astute''s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Day Shift Team Leader to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station, currently in construction, in Tilbury, Essex.

Once fully operational, the EfW will process 350,000 tonnes of waste per annum to generate c.40MW of electricity to export to the national grid which is enough to power c.90,000 homes.

The vital Day Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of -65,363+ -4,694 location allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + Private Medical + benefits

Responsibilities and duties of the Day Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

• The day-to-day management of a team of Shift Operators / Shift Technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure boiler, generator and auxiliary plant.
• Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Maximising waste input and energy production
• Chairing daily meetings after a shift handover to review health, safety & environmental issues, overnight activities and plans for the shift ahead.
• Acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching and carrying out mechanical and electrical isolations.
• Mainly responsible for permit office work relating to writing, issuing and signing off on permits to work
• Working with the maintenance department when required to ensure maximum plant availability.
• Deputise for the Operations Manager as and when required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally a HNC, or similar, in a relevant engineering subject
• IOSH/NEBOSH will be advantageous
• HV SAP/AP experience will be desired

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

The Day Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:

• Prior experience working in a senior operations role within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Generation, Petrochemicals, COMAH sites, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of safe systems of work procedures
• HV switching experience would be ideal
• Experience working with steam raising plant would be highly advantageous
