Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimise their database infrastructure.Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.Monitor database performance and implement changes to improve efficiency and reliability.Ensure database security, including backups, access controls, and disaster recovery procedures.Perform regular system tuning, updates, and patching to keep databases up to date and secure.Work closely with developers and system administrators to design and deploy robust database solutions.Implement data models, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies to support business applications.Maintain documentation related to database architecture, configuration, and procedures.Support data migration, integration, and ETL processes across different environments.Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolution.Ensure compliance with data governance, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Proven experience (2+ years) as a Database Administrator in a commercial environment.Strong proficiency in at least one major RDBMS (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).Experience with database backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python is advantageous.Understanding of cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Knowledge of data protection regulations, particularly GDPR.Privacy notice: We are GDPR compliant and take your privacy seriously.
