Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Database Administrator Intern to join our technology team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in database management, support critical operations, and contribute to the integrity and performance of our data systems. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals, assisting with various tasks and learning best practices in a supportive hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database systems.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and support optimisation efforts.
• Help implement and manage data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Support database security initiatives and user access management.
• Perform basic data analysis tasks to support business intelligence initiatives.
• Document database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve database-related issues.
• Learn and apply best practices for database administration and data governance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of academic or project-based experience with database concepts and SQL.
• Foundational understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
• Demonstrable skills in Data Analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team.
• Proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Familiarity with specific RDBMS such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Exposure to scripting languages like Python or Shell for automation.
• Understanding of cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
