We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join a growing financial services organisation. This is a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of business-critical database systems. You will be responsible for maintaining SQL databases, optimising performance, managing security, and ensuring high availability in a fast-paced and regulated environment.Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and optimise SQL databases.
Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
Monitor and improve database performance, including tuning queries, indexes, and stored procedures.
Ensure database security, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with data protection standards.
Support database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to design and implement efficient database solutions.
Document processes, procedures, and system configurations.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation.
Expertise in backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Understanding of database security best practices.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills:Exposure to other relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Knowledge of GDPR, PCI DSS, or other compliance frameworks.
