Data ScientistLCP Delta is working to enable the energy transition through a variety of offerings. One of these offerings is the tech enablement of vast datasets to inform key decision makers on energy market trends and provide valuable insights.Our clients value not only our data insights, but also our suite of short-term forecasting tools. This has been built in our Enact platform through a combination of machine-learning, optimisation and fundamental models within the GB short-term trading space. A highlight of our current offering is GB imbalance forecasting, which LCP Delta has been leading for the last 6 years.As a key area of focus and growth for LCP Delta, we are now looking to improve, scale and build-out our data science capabilities. Our mid-term strategy is to deploy technology across all our existing offerings, leveraging in-house data and skills to maximise our impact on the energy transition. This role will directly contribute to that strategy.This is an exciting opportunity for a data scientist with experience in energy market forecasting experience to join our fast-growing team and to play a key role in our growth. The role will involve developing new and working on existing applications using our in-house databases. Our current tech-stack covers Python, C# and front-end web technologies, built on scalable Microsoft Azure architecture. A strong knowledge of forecasting in Python will be essential for this role.

What will you be doing?

Taking ownership of developing our new data science forecasts in the short-term energy space, starting in GB and across the continentEnhancing and evolving our current forecasting suite, working directly with our clients to understand their key challengesCollaborating with our clients, including traders with varying levels of technical knowledge, to understand requirements and business aims - Identifying problems and delivering timely solutionsWorking as a collaborative member of the Coding Team, alongside our energy full-stack developers and energy consultantsStaying up to date with the developments and changes in the field of machine learning and data-science, including tools and techniques usedPower Market Modelling

LCP Delta''s Power Market Modelling team

develops in-house models of pan-European energy markets. Our consulting teams use these models to support key decision makers enabling the energy transition. This includes helping Governments and regulators design effective policy and supporting investors to understand revenues expected from their assets.Example models within the team include our pan-European power market forecasting tool, EnVision, and our battery asset platform STOREcast, which puts our models in our clients'' hands to configure their own asset and produce revenue forecasts. These models use a variety of mathematical techniques from agent-based approaches to stochastic optimisation models.

What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

Python - demonstrable experience requiredExperience working across a range of ML models, e.g. TensorFlow and scikit-learnSignificant experience in the energy industry, with a specific focus on forecasting the short-term power marketsGitHub or Azure DevOps knowledge is desiredSQL knowledge is desiredExperience in DataBricks is desired, but not necessaryYou will need to be comfortable working as part of a team, have an enthusiasm for providing an excellent user experience and keen to learn new skills on the jobGood communication skills are required with the ability to discuss technical matters in non-technical languageA degree in a numerical or computer-based discipline is desirable, but we also welcome applicants from other backgroundsYou are able to provide clear and logical thinking processes and has the ability to clearly communicate examples of work
