CYP Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist

OverviewRole: Band 7 Registered Mental Health Nurse (CYP) to support and lead the development of pathways and care for children and young people with mental health difficulties at Darent Valley Hospital.

Please Note: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK independently, with a visa or immigration status that allows them to fulfil the full duration and type of contract offered. The Trust is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

The successful candidate will work across CYP services providing leadership in clinical, specialist and holistic support/advice to children and young people with a variety of mental health problems. The post holder will provide relevant specialist mental health training, supervision and debriefing, and act as the interface between CYP ED, PAU and paediatric and adult wards, and specialist mental health services. This post plays a key role in leading and supporting staff with the management of patients experiencing mental health difficulties and providing expert clinical knowledge for children, young people and their families.

Person SpecificationEducation and Qualification

Essential: RN Mental Health

Essential: Degree or equivalent experience

Essential: 998 or equivalent qualification

Essential: CAMHS module or extensive experience

Desirable: Leadership qualification

Desirable: Working towards or functioning at master level

Desirable: Learning Disability qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential: Knowledge of current evidence-based practice within CYP Mental Health

Essential: Knowledge of Mental Health Act and legal frameworks for CYP

Essential: Management and safeguarding experience; knowledge of the Children''s Act

Essential: Clinical governance and nursing issues related to CYP mental health

Essential: Experience applying research evidence to clinical practice

Desirable: Cannulation and phlebotomy

Essential: Extensive nursing experience with CYP at band 6

Essential: Experience with CYP mental health in an acute healthcare setting

Essential: Experience with CYP with learning disability and/or autism

Essential: Management experience

Essential: Evidence of service improvement projects; audit and evaluation experience

Desirable: Experience working for CAMHS within an acute mental health team or community setting

Desirable: Previous band 7 experience
