Overview

Underwriting Manager – Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working) – Salary to 70k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits. Permanent, Full-Time. IPS Group is partnering with a Global Insurer to recruit an experienced and people-focused Underwriting Team Leader for their Manchester office. This is a pivotal leadership role and a brand-new team supporting the launch of a new Cyber proposition. The function is part of a strategic national growth initiative set to go live in January 2026, with Manchester as the central hub for Cyber and Financial Lines capabilities.The Team Leader will lead the new team, ensuring it is fully operational in time for launch, and will manage new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments across both open market trading and e-trade platforms. The initial hiring phase includes 4 roles, followed by 4 more appointments; once established, the team will include Development Underwriters, Senior Underwriters, and Assistant Underwriters.Responsibilities

Lead and shape the new underwriting team, including setting up structure and workflows, overseeing performance, and delivering coaching and onboarding to create a high-performing environment.Act as a key point of contact in the Manchester office and collaborate with senior leadership on wider business priorities and transformation projects.Oversee operations for new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments across open market and e-trade platforms.Drive process improvements, define governance, and ensure the team is fully operational in time for the January 2026 launch.Qualifications

Strong people management or supervisory experience, ideally within Cyber, Professional Indemnity, Casualty, or Digital/E-trade underwriting.Experience with Acturis would be beneficial.Proven ability to build a team from the ground up with a focus on coaching, onboarding, and performance delivery.Compensation and Benefits
