Customs Coordinator

We re recruiting for an experienced Customs Coordinator to join a well-established freight forwarding business in the North East. The company handles European imports, exports and cross-trade movements and is looking to strengthen its customs capability as the operation continues to develop. This role will take ownership of customs activity across the business, working closely with the freight operations team to make sure shipments are cleared correctly and without unnecessary delays. What you''ll be doing Completing import and export customs declarations Managing customs clearance for UK and European freight movements Checking documentation and ensuring information is accurate before submission Working with freight operators to obtain missing or additional information Liaising with customers where customs documentation or clarification is required Managing customs queries and resolving clearance issues Maintaining accurate records and documentation Keeping up to date with relevant customs procedures and requirements Supporting the wider operations team with customs-related advice What they''re looking for You''ll need previous hands-on customs experience within freight forwarding, logistics or a similar environment, with a good understanding of import and export clearance procedures. They need someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload and who understands the importance of getting customs declarations right first time.
