Customer Water Quality Officer
About the Role
As a Customer Water Quality Officer based in Latton, you will safeguard drinking water standards for millions of residents. This temporary role, paying £14.80 per hour, involves collecting samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and domestic properties using equipment supplied in your van. You will maintain precise sampling records, oversee equipment upkeep to industry standards, and coordinate with technical scheduling, regulatory, and performance teams. Working directly for Pertemps Thames Water, your duties directly influence public health and community wellbeing. The position suits someone methodical, comfortable with fieldwork, and capable of managing a varied daily schedule while liaising professionally across multiple internal departments.

What you’ll be doing as a Water Quality Technician:
- Collecting samples from treatment works, reservoirs and customer homes. You will have access to the equipment for testing in your van such as and bottles, thermometers.
- Overseeing the management of your sampling records and maintenance of sampling equipment, ensuring they’re kept to industry standards.
- Liaising with the technical scheduling team, CSWQ group, and regulatory and performance team to plan your workload and deliver the monitoring programme.
- Assisting with investigating supply issues or customer complaints if they arise.
What you should bring to the role
- A full UK, clean driving license with a willingness to plan your routes, drive long distances, and comfortable driving a large commercial van in busy environments and remote rural locations.
- Excellent customer service skills for visiting customers’ homes and cold calling properties.
- Excellent attention to detail for recording samples on a daily basis.
- Strong organizational skills and can work independently.
- An existing knowledge of the water industry, if not a willingness to learn the water industry and its processes.
- Good computer literacy.
- Hourly Pay rate: £14.80.
- Location: – Latton (WTW) - GL7 5QF & Farmoor (WTW) - OX2 9NS- Flexible between Burford, Carterton, Bampton, Oxford and Swindon.
- Expenses: Excluded.
- Length of assignment: 26 weeks.
- Working hours: 38 hours per week Monday - Friday.
