The opportunity as Customer Quality Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Customer Quality Engineer to become a key link between its customers and manufacturing teams.

You''ll take ownership of customer complaints and corrective actions, using tools such as 8D, 5 Why and root cause analysis to get beyond the immediate problem and stop it coming back. You''ll also support customer audits, visits and quality reviews, while working closely with production and suppliers to resolve issues.

Alongside the day-to-day customer quality work, you''ll be involved in PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, process audits and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on reducing PPM, scrap, rework and the ever-unpopular Cost of Poor Quality.

What you''ll bring as Customer Quality Engineer:

We''re looking for someone with around 3+ years'' experience in a manufacturing quality environment, who is comfortable dealing directly with customers and confident leading investigations through to resolution.

You''ll ideally have experience with:

• 8D, 5 Why and structured root cause analysis
• Internal/process auditing
• Engineering drawings and GD&T
• PPAP, APQP, FMEA and Control Plans
• SPC/MSA and quality KPIs
• ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 environments

Experience in fabrication, welding, machining, forming or metal finishing would be useful, but isn''t essential.

Most importantly, you''ll be credible with customers, comfortable challenging issues when necessary, and someone who follows things through rather than declaring victory when the spreadsheet says "closed".
