Danny Sullivan Group is currently recruiting for experienced Highways White Works Operatives to work on behalf of the local council on highways and infrastructure projects across the Portsmouth area.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced highways operatives looking for long-term, ongoing work on council highways and infrastructure projects.

The works will involve a variety of highways and external works, including the renewal and relaying of slabs, kerbs and channels, block paving, installation of bollards, adjustment of ironwork and pedestrian guard rails.

Your Role as a CSCS Groundworker / Highways Operative

As a CSCS Groundworker / Highways Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out highways, paving and associated external works to a high standard across council-maintained highways and infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Renewing and relaying concrete slabs
• Installing and repairing kerbs and channels
• Laying and reinstating block paving
• Installing metal and wooden bollards
• Adjusting and reinstating ironwork
• Installing pedestrian guard rails
• Carrying out general highways and external works
• Working to specified levels, lines and finishes
• Preparing work areas and ensuring materials are correctly positioned
• Using hand tools and relevant equipment safely
• Working alongside groundworkers, highways operatives and other site trades
• Maintaining clean, safe and tidy working areas
• Identifying and reporting hazards, defects or unsafe conditions
• Following all council, site, health & safety and highways procedures at all times

What We''re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Proven experience working on highways, civils or external works
• Valid NRSWA Operative (Street Works) certification
• Valid CSCS card
• Full UK driving licence
• Manual Handling certification
• Abrasive Wheels certification
• CAT & Genny (CAT4) certification
• First Aid certification
• Spill Kit training
• Vehicle Banksman certification
• Good understanding of highways and construction site health & safety
• Experience working around plant, vehicles and construction traffic
• Ability to work accurately to levels, lines and specifications
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Ability to work effectively as part of a busy highways team
• Previous experience working on local authority, highways or infrastructure projects is advantageous

Pay & Benefits

• -17.21 to -19.24 per hour PAYE
