Sue Ross Legal are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established law firm in Barnsley, for an experienced Criminal Solicitor to join their busy and expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Criminal Solicitor looking to join a smaller, close-knit office where no two days are the same. With a strong and varied caseload already in place, the successful candidate will be confident managing matters independently from the outset and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing a varied criminal law caseload with minimal supervision.
• Providing expert advice and representation to clients across a range of criminal matters.
• Attending police stations, courts and client meetings as required.
• Preparing cases and ensuring all matters are progressed efficiently.
• Building strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.
• Maintaining high standards of client care and regulatory compliance.
• Contributing to the continued growth and success of the department.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from qualified Solicitors who can demonstrate:

• Previous experience handling a criminal law caseload independently.
• Strong knowledge of criminal law procedures and legislation.
• Excellent client care and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work.
• The confidence to hit the ground running within a busy department.

Desirable Qualifications

• Duty Solicitor Accreditation would be highly advantageous, although this is not essential.
• Police Station Accreditation is preferred.
• Supervisor Status would be a distinct advantage.
