Key Responsibilities

A66D OR EQUIVELANT

1. Crane Operation:

   • Operate electric overhead cranes via pendant controls, radio remote, or cabin.

   • Lift/transport loads (e.g., steel coils, machinery, containers) with precision.

2. Safety Compliance:

   • Conduct pre-operational checks (brakes, hooks, wires, limit switches).

   • Follow LOLER 1998 (Lifting Operations Regulations) and PUWER 1998 (Equipment Safety).

   • Adhere to site-specific rules (e.g., exclusion zones, wind speed limits).

3. Load Management:

   • Verify load weights and ensure they fall within crane capacity.

   • Secure loads using slings/chains under slinger/signaller guidance.

4. Communication:

   • Coordinate with slingers/signallers using BS 7121 hand signals or radios.

   • Report equipment defects or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.

5. Documentation:

   • Log lift details, safety checks, and incidents.

   • Complete daily inspection reports.

6. Maintenance Support:

   • Assist engineers with basic maintenance (lubrication, minor repairs).
