Crane Engineer

Astute''s Renewables team is partnering with a leading lifting and engineering specialist to recruit a Crane Service Engineer for its Teesside branch.

The Crane Service Engineer role comes with a salary of -40,00048,000, a company van and a Monday to Friday working week. The role will involve servicing, maintaining, fault finding and repairing overhead cranes and lifting equipment across a range of customer sites.

Responsibilities and duties of the Crane Service Engineer role

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair overhead cranes and lifting equipment including overhead cranes, jib cranes, runway systems, hoists, light cranes and mobile gantries.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, often without detailed electrical drawings.
• Carry out fault-finding and repairs on motors, inverters, drives, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics and control panels.
• Conduct planned maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns at customer sites.
• Inspect lifting equipment and identify safety or compliance issues.
• Carry out repairs, adjustments and component replacements to minimise customer downtime.
• Work safely at height and in confined or challenging environments.
• Liaise directly with customers to explain completed work and provide advice on safety and operational improvements.
• Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records and compliance documentation.
• Carry out basic welding and fabrication tasks where required.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Minimum 3 years'' experience in cranes, lifting equipment or heavy industry related electro-mechanical engineering.
• An electro-mechanical engineering background with an electrical bias.
• Strong electrical fault-finding experience, including the ability to diagnose faults with and without drawings.
• Experience working with three phase systems, motors, inverters, drives and gearboxes.
• Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical lifting systems.
• Experience with overhead cranes, hoists or other lifting equipment is preferred.
• Comfortable and competent working at height.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience with welding or fabrication would be desirable.

Additional qualifications or training such as Abrasive Wheels, EMSS/CCNSG Safety Passport, Harness Training, IPAF, LEEA and Working at Height would be advantageous.
