Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools

Location: Wakefield and surrounding areas
Pay: £98–£108 per day
Hours: Typically 8:15am–3:30pm, depending on the school
Contract: Temporary, term-time only
Start date: ASAP

PK Education is recruiting confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to provide temporary classroom cover across a range of mainstream secondary schools in the Wakefield area.

This is a flexible opportunity offering regular work to suit your availability. Applicants must be available for a minimum of three full days per week.

The role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Supervise pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects and year groups.
• Ensure pupils understand the work and instructions provided by the class teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and professionally.
• Maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
• Follow the school’s policies and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of each lesson.

You will not be expected to plan lessons or undertake formal marking.

To be considered, you must:

• Hold a degree, diploma or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Have strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
• Be confident working professionally within an education setting.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written English.
• Be able to give instructions that pupils can understand and follow.
• Be adaptable, dependable and comfortable covering a wide range of subjects.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Be available for at least three full days each week.

Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils is desirable, although applications are also welcomed from graduates and individuals with relevant experience in education, coaching, youth work or similar settings.

Regular work is available immediately, with opportunities ranging from day-to-day cover to longer-term assignments.
