Berkeley Scott is currently recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. If you have experience preparing fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and are looking for flexible, ongoing work, we''d love to hear from you. The Role

As a School Cook, you will play an important role in preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals.
  • Assisting with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Following Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
  • Supporting the kitchen team with daily duties.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
  • Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.

What We''re Looking For

To be considered, you should have:


  • Previous experience as a Cook within a school, education, care, or commercial catering environment.
  • Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
  • Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Own transport is desirable due to travel between school sites.
