Control System Engineer - Bedfordshire
Salary: -52,000 + Excellent Package including Matched Pension Scheme
Are you an experienced Control System Engineer with a passion for problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement in a food manufacturing environment?
This role is all about improving, maintaining, and rectifying electrical/electronic control systems - including PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, and communication networks - to ensure smooth and reliable production. You''ll work closely with fellow control system engineers and multi-skilled engineers to support the plant, hit production targets, and drive efficiency improvements, all within a high-safety, high-quality environment.
What will you be doing?
Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out timely repairs
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement improvements to reduce downtime
Design and implement modifications to existing electrical systems
Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives
Apply safe systems of work (isolations, permits, risk assessments) across a variety of equipment
Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and develop site electrical standards
Support training and knowledge transfer within the engineering team
What will you bring?
Time-served apprenticeship (minimum Level 3) in an electrical discipline
Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills
Knowledge of PLC, HMI, and servo systems (Allen Bradley preferred)
Good understanding of machinery safety systems (Pilz, Guardmaster, or similar)
Solid grasp of electrical safety practices and regulations
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues
A collaborative, proactive, and results-driven approach
