Control Systems Engineer

This is a contract role lasting 12 months initially. Applicants must be a sole British National and be eligible for SC clearance.

Our client is a leader in advanced system integration, operational technology, and digital transformation. For decades, they have delivered high-performance solutions in highly regulated and technically challenging sectors, including nuclear, energy, water, renewables, and manufacturing.

With continuous innovation at the heart of their work, they are now preparing for several exciting new projects and are seeking an experienced technical specialist to join their talented PLC and SCADA engineering team.

The Role
You will work as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, collaborating with clients to design, develop, and implement PLC and SCADA application software using Commercially-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, typically:

  • Siemens

  • Rockwell Automation

  • Schneider Electric

  • Wonderware

  • Codra

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing PLC and SCADA systems

  • Producing design documentation, test plans, and test specifications

  • Liaising directly with client representatives

  • Delivering control system software development, testing, and peer reviews

  • Participating in on-site commissioning activities

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years'' experience in PLC/SCADA system design and implementation

  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to work in integrated client/contractor teams

  • Knowledge of the PLC/SCADA system design lifecycle

  • Previous commissioning experience

  • Willingness to travel and work away from home

  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance

  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • IEC61131 PLC Coding Standards knowledge

  • Basic understanding of Cyber Security standards (62443)

  • Supervisory or mentoring experience

  • Network architecture design skills

  • Experience in the nuclear industry

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
