Role: Control Panel Wireman/ Wirewoman
Location: Cambridgeshire,
Rate: -22.00 P/HR PAYE plus overtime.
Time and a third
Time and a half, Saturdays
Double time Sundays
Duration: 6 months, subject to extension, (typically extended)
Hours-: 37.5 hrs per week. Currently, due to workload, working around 50 hours.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Control Panel Wireman/woman to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and wiring control panels used in various industrial applications. Your expertise will ensure that electrical components are correctly installed and functioning according to specifications, supporting the seamless operation of machinery and automation systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical wiring skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience working with schematics and technical drawings to deliver high-quality control panels efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assemble control panels by following detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Wire electrical components such as relays, contactors, circuit breakers, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Solder components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) with precision and adherence to IPC 610 standards
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other machining equipment to facilitate assembly and wiring tasks
- Conduct testing of control panels using ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices to ensure proper functionality
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately to guide assembly processes
- Maintain mechanical knowledge for mounting components securely within enclosures
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements during all phases of assembly
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical wiring issues during testing phases
- Collaborate with engineering teams to review designs and improve assembly processes
Requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing complete control panels from schematic drawings.
- Strong knowledge of PCB assembly, surface mount technology (SMT), and soldering techniques following IPC 610 standards
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their integration within control systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams accurately
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, calipers, and machining equipment
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting with ohmmeters and understanding electrical safety protocols
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to control panel fabrication
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail in assembly tasks
