Location: Greater Manchester (Office-Based)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Electric Company Car + Private Healthcare

The Opportunity

An established and growing fit-out and specialist joinery contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join its senior management team.

With a turnover of approximately £15 million and a strong reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment, fit-out and bespoke joinery projects, the business works across a diverse range of sectors including hospitality, leisure, commercial interiors, retail, aviation and public-facing environments.

This is a predominantly office-based role overseeing multiple live projects across the North West, with occasional travel to sites further afield.

The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, client management and supporting site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Directors, you will oversee 2-3 projects simultaneously, managing all aspects of delivery from pre-start through to completion.

Projects typically range from £1m to £6m in value, including:

• High-end retail fit-outs
• Commercial interiors
• Hotels and hospitality projects
• Leisure facilities
• Airport environments
• Football stadiums and public venues
• Specialist joinery packages
• Refurbishment and upgrade schemes

You will work closely with Site Managers, clients, subcontractors and Health & Safety teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the successful delivery of multiple fit-out and joinery projects.
• Manage project programmes, costs, quality and client expectations.
• Attend and chair progress meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Support and mentor Site Managers across live projects.
• Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Liaise with Health & Safety teams to ensure compliance across all sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and programme adherence.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and on schedule.
• Provide regular project updates to Directors and senior management.
• Maintain excellent client relationships and identify repeat business opportunities.

Candidate RequirementsEssential

• Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within:

  • Fit-Out
  • Commercial Interiors
  • Refurbishment
  • Specialist Joinery

• Strong joinery background.

• Experience managing projects valued up to £6m.

• CSCS Black Card (Essential).

• Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance.

• Experience managing multiple live projects simultaneously.

• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to review and manage RAMS.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

• Must live within a commutable distance of the Greater Manchester office.

Highly Desirable

• Experience working for both a main contractor and specialist subcontractor.

• Typically 40-50 hours per week.
• Flexible approach to working hours with responsibility for managing your own diary.
• Office-based role with regular site visits across the North West and occasional UK-wide travel.
