Contracts Manager

About you

You are an experienced Contracts Manager who enjoys having responsibility for several projects rather than being tied to one site at a time.

You will be comfortable managing industrial fit out and refurbishment projects, keeping a close eye on programme, quality, cost and the people delivering the work.

Ideally, you will already have experience within industrial environments. If your background is more broadly within commercial fit out and refurbishment, that could still work, providing you have managed multiple projects concurrently and understand the commercial side of delivering them.

You will need to be within a sensible daily commute of Cannock as you will be working as part of the team based from their office there.

The salary is £60,000 to £65,000 per annum, plus car allowance and annual bonus.

Your experience

You will need previous experience working as a Contracts Manager within construction, ideally delivering industrial fit out and refurbishment projects.

Experience managing several live projects at the same time is important. Projects can range in size up to around £5m, so you need to be comfortable moving between different jobs and knowing exactly where each one stands.

You should be confident managing subcontractors, programmes, health and safety, quality and client relationships.

You also need a good level of commercial awareness.

On some of the smaller projects you will have more responsibility for the commercials yourself, so experience placing subcontractor and supplier orders, monitoring costs and completing CVRs would be particularly beneficial.

You do not need to be a Quantity Surveyor, although you should understand the financial performance of your projects rather than leaving everything commercial to somebody else.

What you will be doing with your experience

You will take responsibility for a number of industrial fit out and refurbishment projects, typically valued up to around £5m.

Rather than spending all of your time permanently based on one site, you will oversee multiple projects and make sure each one is progressing properly.

You will work closely with Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and clients, dealing with issues as they arise and making sure projects remain on programme and are delivered to the required standard.

You will also be involved commercially, particularly on smaller schemes. This could include placing orders, monitoring project costs, reviewing CVRs and making sure you understand how each project is performing financially.

There is a good level of responsibility with the role, so you need to be someone who is comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of your projects.

This particular role will have a strong focus on industrial projects, with schemes typically valued up to around £5m.

You will be joining the team based from their Cannock office and working with people who understand this type of work and the challenges that come with managing several live projects at once.

They are looking for someone who can bring experience into the team, take ownership of their workload and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.
