Contractor Supervisor - Site Engineering
Coordinate contractor teams on a major manufacturing site
Wolviston Management Services is delighted to be working in partnership with TIOXIDE to recruit a Contractor Supervisor for their Site Engineering team at Greatham.
This is a key site-based role where you will coordinate and supervise contractor work groups to support routine tasks, plant maintenance schedules and peaks in workload. You will work closely with plant area teams, central schedulers and contract partners to make sure work is properly planned, safely delivered and completed to a high standard.
The role will involve supervising contractor groups such as scaffolding, insulation and painting teams, as well as vacuuming, jetting and lagoon cleaning crews.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
- Coordinate and supervise site-based contractor work groups across planned maintenance and routine site activity.
- Liaise with plant area teams and central schedulers to align contractor activity with production and maintenance plans.
- Develop and manage a rolling four-week lookahead schedule to support effective resource use.
- Make sure work is clearly specified before it starts and safely delivered to the right standard.
- Track contractor performance and support efficient, reliable service delivery.
- Call in additional resources when needed to meet peaks in workload.
- Develop and manage cost control KPIs to help ensure value for money.
- Build strong working relationships with plant teams, schedulers and contractors.
- Lead, inspire and sustain a positive values-led culture focused on safety, performance and safe working practices.
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent knowledge, in an engineering or trade-related discipline.
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance or a similar site-based environment.
- Experience supervising contractor personnel or multi-trade contractor teams.
- The ability to plan, organise and coordinate work safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with different teams.
- A practical, collaborative and safety-focused approach.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver results.
