PSR Rail Team are currently recruiting for a Contractor Responsible Engineer (CRE) in London, this will be working on one of the biggest rail projects in London being the Old Oak Common. This will be working for a Tier 1 contractor.



The Role

As CRE, you will be responsible for the management, coordination, and assurance of all engineering and technical activities within your discipline for a specific project or work package. You will ensure that all works are delivered in accordance with the design intent, relevant standards, and the requirements of the client - including full compliance with Network Rail (NR) or equivalent assurance frameworks.







Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the approved CRE for a defined discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civils, Comms) on major infrastructure projects.

  • Ensure design and construction activities comply with engineering standards, specifications, and statutory regulations.

  • Collaborate closely with the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM), design teams, and site teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery.

  • Manage engineering interfaces, design integration, and technical assurance processes.

  • Review and approve work package plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and design deliverables.

  • Lead constructability reviews, risk assessments, and design reviews.

  • Provide engineering support to the site delivery team and resolve technical issues promptly.

  • Ensure all documentation is properly controlled and recorded in line with project requirements.

  • Liaise with clients, third-party stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as needed.







Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related discipline).

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it).

  • Proven experience working as a CRE on rail, tunnel, or other major infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards and assurance processes (GRIP/PACE).

  • Experience delivering MEP, communications, or electrical systems installations (preferred).

  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations and engineering safety standards.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and interfaces within a fast-paced delivery environment.
