About the Role
This temporary Contractor Escort role, based at HMP Channings Wood in Newton Abbot, supports the safe movement of contractors and personnel across the site. Working 37 hours per week over four days, Monday to Friday, shifts fall between 7.15am and 5.30pm. As a prison escort, you''ll be responsible for escorting contractors and personnel on and off-site, enabling them to complete planned and minor works while upholding the highest safety and security standards.
Key responsibilities
- Escort contractors: Ensure contractors are safely guided to and from work areas, maintaining compliance at all times.
- Contractor check-in: Verify ID, assist with check-in, and ensure all documentation is in order.
- Vehicle access: Manage contractor vehicle entry where required.
- Equipment review: Check contractors'' tool lists to ensure compliance.
- Internal movement: Obtain authorisation for contractor movement within the facility.
- Monitor compliance: Track sign-in/out, check PPE use, and report any concerns.
- Health andamp; safety: Maintain communication via radio, follow safety protocols, and assist in emergencies.
What you need
- Good communication skills (written andamp; verbal) with basic English andamp; maths knowledge.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A methodical, organised approach with strong attention to detail.
- Teamwork skills with the ability to use initiative when needed.
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing circumstances.
