Contract Python Developer

WA Consultants is currently recruiting for a contract Python Developer with experience of AWS for an established client in Taunton.Our client operates a hybrid working policy with the expectation of one or two office visits per week. The role has been deemed by the client to fall inside of IR35. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:Develop software to meet user needsFollow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelinesWrite clean, secure and well-tested codeCoach and mentor more junior colleaguesOperate the services you build and identify issues in productionEssential and Desirable criteria as follows:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsProven ability of designing, implementing and delivering quality and efficient software using Amazon Web Services to deliver data via APIsGood communication skills that adapt to all level of stakeholdersSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and lead development activitiesDemonstrable skills in Python software developmentDemonstrable skills in AWS CDKDesirable:Experience of source control systems such a gitExperience of AGILE approach to software development following GDS principlesExperience of using AI/Prompt engineering to aid developmentExperience of scientific data formats such as NetCDF, BUFR, GRIBPlease advise on availability and rate expectations on application.
