Consultant Social Worker - Family Support & Protection Service (non case-holding)

Rochdale, Greater Manchester

Up to £40 per hour 

Rochdale Borough Council's Family Support and Protection Service is seeking an experienced and passionate Consultant Social Worker. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us during an exciting time of transition as we implement a new, multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding Model. Our goal is to create co-located teams of specialist practitioners and social workers to provide a comprehensive, whole-family response.

This is a non-case-holding role where you'll be instrumental in supporting and mentoring up to 12 Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) social workers. You will be a crucial role model for good practice, helping to embed our new model and ensure high-quality support for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentoring and Support: Provide mentoring and guidance to ASYE social workers, helping them navigate their early careers.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct direct observations, review reports, and hold reflective discussions to ensure a high standard of practice.
• Skill Development: Support ASYEs with assessments and planning, and develop bespoke training to address identified needs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with our Workforce Development team to support the professional growth of our staff.

What We're Looking For

We need an agency worker with significant experience working with children and families throughout their social care journey, including child protection and care proceedings.

• Extensive Experience: A proven track record in all aspects of social work, from assessment and planning to permanency.
• Support & Mentorship: Experience in supporting ASYEs or holding a Practice Educator status is essential.
• High-Quality Work: A proven record of producing high-quality, timely written work.
