Consultant / Senior Consultant - Industrialised Design and Construction (IDC) role at Mott MacDonald. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to drive innovation and digital transformation in the built environment. The role supports delivery of strategic and technical advisory services across buildings, water, transport, and energy programmes, embedding IDC principles from concept to completion.Location

Support the development and implementation of IDC strategies across client portfolios and programmes, contributing to improvements in delivery efficiency and consistency.Apply DfMA and MMC principles to optimise design, delivery, and operational outcomes—demonstrating value through constructability improvements, reduced waste, or enhanced programme certainty.Contribute to standardised tools, methods, and delivery models to embed repeatable, scalable IDC solutions across projects.Develop IDC metrics and performance indicators to enable data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the value chain.Assist in creating case studies, lessons learned, and a library of IDC approaches; support knowledge sharing and application.Engage in capacity building, including mentoring staff and contributing to internal knowledge sharing; help grow the next generation of IDC practitioners.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure IDC principles are integrated from concept to completion; promote cross-functional innovation.Help develop digital tools and data models to support industrialised delivery, increasing transparency, traceability, and automation.Participate in client workshops, stakeholder engagement, and delivery assurance activities; build trusted relationships and reinforce Mott MacDonald’s IDC reputation.Candidate Specification

Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related fieldWorking towards or recently achieved chartership with a relevant professional bodyExperience applying DfMA, MMC, or platform-based approachesStrong communication and collaboration skillsSelf-motivated, accountable, able to work independently and in a multidisciplinary teamProactive mindset with willingness to learn and challenge the status quoUnderstanding of the RIBA Plan of Work (or equivalents) and its application to deliveryExperience across sectors including Buildings (Healthcare, Education, Defence, Nuclear), Water and Environment, and/or Transport infrastructureDesirable
Experience with systems engineering and requirements management toolsProficiency in digital delivery and its role in DfMAAnalytical and problem-solving abilities with strategic thinkingKnowledge of Lean principles and logisticsUnderstanding of supply chain ecosystems for Industrialised constructionAwareness of manufacturing and assembly processes and related materials and fabrication methodsKnowledge of tools such as Power BI, Revit, or parametric design platformsRelevant certifications or memberships (e.g. Lean Construction Institute, BuildingSMART) are a plusWillingness to support wider initiatives within Mott MacDonald and contribute to advisory servicesBehaviours And Values
