Consultant Psychiatrist Twickenham Integrated Recovery Hub

OverviewThe postholder will provide medical and clinical leadership to the Twickenham Integrated Recovery Hub (IRH) within Adult Mental Health Services for Richmond. The Twickenham IRH (with internal GP alignment) is one of two such teams in the London Borough of Richmond, the other being Richmond IRH. Both IRHs provide treatment and care for those with more complex and enduring needs. There is a separate team Richmond Single Point of Access which triages GP referrals and carries out assessments. Richmond Primary Care Liaison Service also accepts referrals from GPs and provides mental health interventions. In addition, there are separate community teams for Early Intervention in Psychosis (Richmond and Kingston EIS) and a Complex Emotional Needs Service for people with Personality Disorder (Richmond PDITT). There is also a Trust-run Richmond Wellbeing Service comprising of IAPT and wellbeing services for patients with mild/moderate mental health difficulties.
Responsibilities
Medical leadership, working in the multi-disciplinary team and providing cross-cover to other Consultant Psychiatrists and, occasionally, the Associate Clinical Director within the borough or service line.
Overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, initiation of medication, and the recovery-focused care delivered by the Team.
Availability within normal working hours five days a week for urgent review and management including formal Mental Health Act assessments.
Domiciliary visits as required.
Providing cross-cover for Consultant colleagues where necessary.
Management of complex cases.
Allocation of resources, in collaboration with the team manager, to service users and carers.
Ensuring the delivery of effective, efficient and safe, recovery-focused mental health care.
Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working with social care, statutory and voluntary and third sector partners.
Participate in audit, clinical governance, and service planning; raise concerns through appropriate channels when necessary.
Accountability and Professional Requirements
Managerially/operationally accountable to the Clinical Director for the Community (adult) Service Line and responsible to the Associate Clinical Director for the borough.
Section 12(2) approval of the Mental Health Act and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility).
Maintain GMC registration and comply with professional codes of conduct.
Participate in annual job plan review and in the Trust’s CPD and academic programme.
Carry a mobile phone during working hours and be contactable by phone and email.
Ensure compliance with the New Deal and Working Time Directive for junior medical staff.
Assist with administrative duties and record keeping related to patient care.
Contribute to financial management and service planning in collaboration with local managers.
