An exciting opportunity for a Consultant Neurologist to join the Neurosciences Department at King''s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post focuses on delivering hyperacute, acute stroke services and neurology on the Denmark Hill site as part of the Stroke service, which includes a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and a Stroke Unit (SU).King''s College Hospital is part of King''s Health Partners, an Academic Health Science Centre and a Major Trauma Centre in London. The department is developing acute neurology services and a rotarised system of daily neurovascular clinics.Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care to stroke and neurology patients, including all treatment and management duties to ensure proper functioning of the unit.Share responsibility for 24/7 cover of the unit on a rota basis, including covering annual leave and short-term sickness as required.Provide clinical supervision of junior medical/dental practitioners as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.Attend outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Groups management team where part of the service structure.Contribute to the Care Groups research interests and to audit, Morbidity and Mortality, Clinical Governance and Learning from Deaths programs.Contribute to the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Care Groups Business Plan and discuss service plans with internal and external stakeholders.Work within the contracted level of service and operating plan; provide professional leadership across the specialty and support post-qualification education and training.Collaborate with clinical colleagues to maintain staff productivity and job satisfaction, and participate in the appraisal process where appropriate.Undertake Care Group management duties as agreed with the Care Group/Departmental Manager/Clinical Director.Comply with Trust infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene and environmental hygiene; maintain patient safety through evidence-based practice.Support the Trust’s commitment to 7-day consultant-led services and contribute to future developments as required.About us
