OverviewEast Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join the team at Royal Blackburn Hospital. The unit currently has 18 Consultant Intensivists and a 28-bed critical care unit.
Responsibilities
Direct clinical care on a 10 PA contract; initially 8.5 PAs for clinical care and 1.5 PAs of time reserved for SPA. Of the 8.5 PA clinical activity, up to 4 PAs may be available to support clinical activity of interest to the successful candidate. The clinical activity is open to negotiation but must support the organisation''s overall clinical strategy.
Critical care duties including daytime sessions on critical care, the weekly MDT, and on-call duties for the ICU (currently averaging 2.67 PAs per week).
Work within a diverse team including anaesthesia, long-term ventilation, acute medicine and respiratory medicine.
Contribute to teaching and training with a focus on trainee development and exam success.
Qualifications
Experience in Intensive Care Medicine and eligibility for a substantive consultant post.
Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills; ability to align clinical activity with organisational strategy.
