Overview

Consultant Forensic Intellectual Disability Psychiatrist – an exciting and unique opportunity to join the newly developed low secure forensic learning disability service based on Turner ward, Shaftesbury Clinic, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. The forensic service sits within the Specialist Service Line of the Trust. The post is permanent and includes a tailored management leadership programme for those interested in pursuing leadership responsibilities. A relocation package is available – up to £8,000 (terms and conditions apply).The post-holder will provide medical leadership to the team on Turner LDA ward, a 12-bedded low secure ward within the new Shaftesbury building at Springfield Hospital. The Consultant will work closely with the ward manager and the wider service to ensure safe, efficient and effective service delivery that meets the Trust’s Key Performance Indicators and the South London Partnership Forensic Provider Collaborative objectives.From January 2022 this unit will be housed in a state-of-the-art secure building on the Springfield Hospital site. The ward is equipped to deliver care and treatment to patients with intellectual (learning) disabilities who may also have Autism, supported by a full specialist multidisciplinary team.The post-holder will carry overall responsibility for day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment and management, treatment and rehabilitation-focused care delivered by the team. The role includes robust support from the service Matron, Associate Clinical Director, the Clinical Director and, if necessary, the Medical Director and Chief Executive.We are sharing this opportunity as part of an inclusive, diverse, anti-racist organisation, committed to co-production with local communities and flexible working arrangements to enable a positive environment for career development.Location: Springfield University Hospital, Tooting. Responsibilities

Provide medical leadership to the multidisciplinary team on Turner LDA ward; oversee day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment and management, and rehabilitation-focused treatment.Ensure safe, efficient and effective service delivery that aligns with Trust KPIs and SLP Forensic PC objectives.Collaborate with ward manager and wider service to optimise patient pathways and outcomes in a low secure forensic learning disability setting.
