Birmingham Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Hospital and CharityThe Post holder will join a team of surgeons who provide the service in both the pediatric burns centre at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and adult burn centres at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Joint working includes clinical care, rotas, education, research, audit and governance activities. In addition to burns, the post holder will have the opportunity to do additional plastic surgery subspecialities depending on experience and the need of the adult or pediatric plastic surgery services.Responsibilities

Provide care for paediatric and adult burn patients as part of the burn surgery team.Participate in clinical rotas and an on-call rota (1:7).Contribute to education, supervision and training of Specialist Trainees on the West Midlands Rotation and training of SpR and junior trainees.Engage in research, audit and governance activities and contribute to the dissemination of findings.Develop an interest in an area of general plastic surgery and/or laser therapy in addition to burns, depending on experience and service needs.Location and Terms

The post holder will be based at Birmingham Children\u2019s Hospital. It is full-time 10PA job; however less than full time is acceptable. The successful applicant would also be expected to participate in a 1:7 on-call rota.Opportunities

The appointee will have the opportunity to develop an interest in an area of general plastic surgery and/or laser therapy, along with the commitment to the burns service. There is potential to pursue additional plastic surgery subspecialities depending on experience and the needs of the adult and paediatric plastic surgery services.Trust Context and Equality
