Construction Teacher
Role: Construction Instructor (School-Based Role)
Location: Enfield
Contract: Full-time / Term-time
Setting: SEMH Secondary School
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Construction Instructor to join a supportive SEMH educational setting in North London. This is a hands-on role working with young people who benefit from practical, vocational learning approaches.
This position is ideal for someone with strong construction skills and a passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional needs. A formal teaching qualification is not required.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging, practical construction sessions to small groups of students
- Support students in developing vocational skills, confidence, and independence
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive workshop environment
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learning and behavioural needs
- Work collaboratively with school staff to support student progress and wellbeing
Key Skills & Experience - Experience in construction trades such as:
- Woodwork / carpentry
- Acrylic work / basic fabrication
- Bricklaying
- Tiling
- Ability to engage and motivate young people through practical learning
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment
- Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
