Construction Manager

Job Title: Freelance Construction Manager – High-Rise Residential
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract Type: Freelance 
Duration: 6 months +
Start Date: Immediate 
Day Rate: £300 - £350 per shift

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of a high-rise residential development in Newcastle. This is a key freelance role on a landmark scheme, offering the opportunity to take ownership of site operations on a fast-paced, complex build.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and site personnel
• Work closely with the Project Manager and commercial team to monitor progress and costs
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health & safety regulations and company standards
• Drive programme delivery, identifying and mitigating risks to timelines
• Conduct regular site meetings, progress reports, and quality inspections
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure snagging is managed effectively
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders as required

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager on high-rise residential or large-scale RC frame projects
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and programme management
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold), and First Aid certified
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex packages
• Strong focus on health & safety and quality assurance
• Experience working in a freelance/contract capacity preferred
