Construction Estimator

Estimator - Construction - Milton Keynes

We are working on behalf of an established Main Contractor looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to strengthen their pre-construction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator who is comfortable managing high-value, complex tenders and taking responsibility for the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

The Role

Working closely with the Pre-Construction and Commercial teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate and commercially competitive tenders across a range of construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and preparing tenders from initial review through to final submission
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, tender documentation and bills of quantities
• Completing detailed take-offs and preparing accurate cost estimates
• Producing tender programmes and identifying key commercial risks and opportunities
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Developing competitive procurement strategies for each tender
• Working closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and the wider pre-construction team
• Attending tender review meetings and contributing to bid strategy
• Carrying out value engineering to identify potential cost savings and alternative solutions
• Ensuring submissions are commercially robust, accurate and delivered within tender deadlines
• Supporting tender handovers to the operational and commercial teams following successful awards

We are looking for an experienced construction Estimator who has previously worked within a Main Contractor environment and understands the demands of competitive tendering.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience estimating-construction projects
• A proven background working for a Main Contractor
• Experience managing tenders from enquiry through to final submission
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, subcontract packages and current market pricing
• Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks within tender documentation
• Confidence liaising and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple live tenders
• Experience with estimating and take-off software would be advantageous

This role would suit an Estimator or Senior Estimator looking to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of opportunities and play a key role in securing major construction projects.
