Overview

The Construction Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to drive the growth and scalability of Company Name, a construction firm specializing in insert sectors e.g., residential, commercial, infrastructure. This role requires a commercially astute leader with strong technical construction expertise and proven experience in expanding business operations, building high-performing teams, and securing profitable projects. The Construction Director will be instrumental in positioning the company for long-term success by enhancing delivery capabilities, improving operational efficiencies, and strengthening client relationships.Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Growth

Develop and implement a growth strategy to expand market share and revenue in line with the company''s vision and objectives.Identify and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and frameworks.Build and maintain strong client, consultant, and subcontractor relationships to drive repeat business and referrals.Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to ensure the business remains competitive.Operational and Project Delivery

Provide executive oversight for all construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.Oversee resource planning, project scheduling, procurement, and supply chain management to optimize performance.Champion health, safety, and sustainability practices across all projects.Establish and enforce robust quality assurance and compliance processes.Financial Management

Work with the executive team to set and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.Drive cost efficiency and value engineering across the business.Ensure projects meet or exceed profitability targets.Team Leadership and Development

Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing construction management team.Recruit, develop, and mentor talent to strengthen the company''s leadership pipeline.Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.Key Requirements

Qualifications

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (postgraduate/MBA desirable).Chartered membership (RICS, CIOB, ICE, or equivalent) is preferred.Experience

Proven track record in a senior leadership role within the construction industry.Demonstrated success in growing a construction business or business unit.Strong experience across multiple sectors (residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or fit-out).Evidence of winning and delivering large-scale, complex projects.Skills and Attributes

Strategic thinker with commercial acumen.Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.Ability to build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners.Strong financial management and contract knowledge (JCT, NEC, or equivalent).Results-driven, entrepreneurial, and adaptable.KPIs and Success Measures
