Role Overview

The Configuration Manager plays a pivotal role within the CADM team, ensuring that configuration management (CM) best practices are upheld and company guidelines are followed. This individual acts as a key advisor to stakeholders, supports process development and improvement, and leads the way in training and tool enhancement for CM systems.

Working closely with project, product, and service teams, the Configuration Manager is the first line of support for users of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool and Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring data integrity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute core CM activities: identification, control, change management, status accounting, and audits.
  • Maintain and distribute controlled data and documentation within the CMDB.
  • Provide regular reports to the CADM Team Lead and relevant project/product/service teams.
  • Act as the CADM focal point for one or more projects/products, supported by team members.
  • Ensure the PLM/CMDB remains in a fit-for-purpose state across multiple environments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage documentation flow and compliance.
  • Lead the creation and management of configuration structures (e.g., BOMs, Product Trees).
  • Facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), including initiation, assessment, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement CM processes and tool improvements.
  • Produce and manage project-specific CM plans and procedures.
  • Guide and support CADM team members assigned to specific projects.
  • Monitor and report on CMDB status, documentation quality, and data integrity.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proficiency in MS Office and file/data management tools (e.g., PDF editors, FTP).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Configuration Management principles and practices.
  • Experience with Product Data Management tools (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Aras Minerva).
  • Understanding of product and project lifecycles.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • SC clearance and ITAR eligibility.
  • Good standard of education (Degree, HNC, Diploma, NVQ Level 5 or higher).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Desirable:

  • CMII or equivalent qualification.
  • European language skills.
  • Minimum 5 years'' experience in Configuration Management within a technical or data-driven environment.
  • Experience in customer-facing CM liaison roles.
  • Familiarity with APQP and sensitive data environments.
