Configuration Change Engineers - Plant Integration

Location: Aztec West, Bristol (with infrequent Site visits)
HYBRID Working : 3 days per week office attendance and 2 days per week working remotely/from home
Duration: Approval until end December 2025 (with HIGH probability of renewal)
Status: CONTRACT – INSIDE IR35
Morson Talent are working with a major player in the Energy sector who have current requirements for Configuration Change Engineers to join their Plant Integration Team, on a contract basis. All work is associated with a major energy infrastructure Project in the Southwest. These contract opportunities will be based at our client’s offices at Aztec West in Bristol with infrequent (quarterly), visits to the Project site in Somerset. The roles are offered on a hybrid basis - typically 3 days per week office attendance and 2 days per week remote/home working. Competitive daily rates - inside IR35.
Contextual Information
- The Plant Integration team is responsible for ensuring the configuration and control of the Nuclear Power Plant design to underpin the timely and effective delivery of the overall project schedule. It assists with progressing aspects such as consistent design, compliant to a set of agreed requirements and consistently implemented in the physical installation (also known as the “as build” configuration)
- Configuration Engineers require high levels of technical and organisational skills along with the ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Principal Accountabilities
To support the Technical Integration Branch of Plant Integration in coordinating Project activities within the Configuration Management processes. This will involve providing technical assistance and managing activities so that the Configuration Management processes owned by Plant Integration are properly, adequately and efficiently implemented across the project.
Broad Scope:
- Along with the rest of the Change Control Team, Configuration Engineers will be the preferred point of contact for configuration management processes. In particular, the technical point of contact for Engineering Managers and Design Entities for all configuration management topics
- They will also:
- Coordinate the contributions from Project stakeholders in the progression of configuration management processes including resolution of Open Points, Design Changes, referential changes, and progressing agreements on Technical Interface attributes.
- Be responsible for controlling, supporting, overall steering and monitoring of the end-to-end configuration activities
- Be involved in Design Handovers to the Client to ensure configuration control is maintained
- Be responsible for the development and maintenance of data-centric ways of working for managing design configuration.
Criteria: Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in a relevant science or engineering subject or strong technical background preferred
- Chartered Engineer status preferred (not essential)
- Experience within the Nuclear Industry – advantageous (not essential)
- Experience of process development and application within engineering Projects
- Database management and coding skills preferred (not essential)
- Understanding of equipment engineering requirements
- Knowledge of design processes and activities related to Nuclear Industry – advantageous (not essential)
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM
- Proficient project management, organisational and coordination skills
- Great communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Decision making and escalation ability for resolution of issues
- Knowledge of budget and schedule management
