£30,000 DOE + Benefits | Office-based with occasional remote work and UK site visitsThe roleWe’re hiring an Assistant CAD Technician / Designer to produce fabrication drawings for client approval. You’ll read and interpret architects’ drawings, apply product knowledge, and provide clear design solutions. You’ll take direction from a Design Co-ordinator and Contracts Manager, and liaise with customers, suppliers, and contractors. Occasional site visits to take dimensions and capture key design information.You’ll handle multiple live projects at once, typically ranging from £1,000 to £300,000, so strong organisation and attention to detail are essential.What you’ll doProduce accurate fabrication drawings and documentation for approvalRead and interpret architectural/engineering drawings and specificationsApply product knowledge to propose practical design solutionsTake site measurements with simple surveying equipmentCoordinate with internal leads, clients, suppliers, and contractorsManage revisions and maintain tidy records across several projectsWhat you’ll bringHND (minimum) in Computer Aided Draughting and Design2+ years’ experience in an architectural, engineering or construction environmentExperience of Tekla Structural Designer OR AutoCADConfident with Outlook and Excel (Windows)Strong numeracy, analytical thinking, and attention to detailAbility to balance a busy workload and meet deadlinesClear, professional communication and a good telephone mannerFull, clean UK driving licenceMy ClientEstablished, design-led supplier working with architects and fabricators on steel gratings and louvres for wall cladding, screening, balustrading, and fencing.
