Academics are looking for an experienced and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND secondary school in Wirral! If you have had SEN classroom experience, have a background in care/support work, or other experience working with children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you!
The specialist school is tailored to the needs of children between the ages of 11 and 19 with PMLD, SLD, and other additional needs. The school is looking for proactive and compassionate individuals to join their supportive team, with the position having the potential to become long-term if the candidate is the right fit.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:
Tailored Education - Assist the teacher in delivering tailored education to individual children. This may be in a small-class group or a 1:1 setting.
Personal Care - Providing dignified assistance with personal care, medical needs, and manual handling where required (training provided).
Fostering Independence - Encouraging students to build confidence, life skills and independence both inside and outside the classroom.
Behaviour Management - Encouraging positive behaviour, redirecting challenging behaviour and practising de-escalation techniques.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience - Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, support/care work, or working with children with additional needs.
Personal Qualities - Patient, proactive and resilient, with a strong passion for assisting in the learning and development of children with SEND.
Wirral Based - Based on the Wirral or surrounding areas.
