We are looking for proactive, confident and community-focused individuals to join our Community Safety Team as Community Safety Enforcement Officers.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in creating safer, more welcoming public spaces across Wolverhampton. You will be a visible presence in some of the city''s busiest locations, engaging with residents, businesses and visitors, preventing anti-social behaviour and supporting community wellbeing.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a 3-week rotating shift pattern, working 28 hours per week:

Week 1

• Wednesday to Friday
• 12:00pm to 7:00pm

Week 2

• Wednesday to Saturday
• 2:00pm to 9:00pm

Week 3

• Tuesday, Friday and Sunday
• 11:00am to 7:00pm

About the Role

As a Community Safety Enforcement Officer, you will provide a highly visible presence in areas vulnerable to anti-social behaviour, offering reassurance and support to local communities.

You will engage positively with members of the public, retailers, partner agencies and community groups to deter anti-social behaviour, gather intelligence and help create safer environments.

A key aspect of the role involves supporting and enforcing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs). Through education, engagement and enforcement, you will encourage compliance with these orders and take appropriate action where ongoing breaches occur, including issuing Community Protection Warnings, Community Protection Notices and Fixed Penalty Notices where necessary.

Working closely with partners including the Police, Business Improvement Districts, local businesses and voluntary organisations, you will contribute directly to Wolverhampton''s commitment to community safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct high-visibility patrols in key locations across the city.
• Engage with residents, businesses, visitors and community groups to provide reassurance and address concerns.
• Support the enforcement of Public Space Protection Orders across the city.
• Investigate reports of anti-social behaviour and use delegated enforcement powers where appropriate.
• Issue warnings, notices and Fixed Penalty Notices in line with legislation and Council procedures.
• Gather, prepare and present evidence to support enforcement action.
• Work in partnership with Police, Business Improvement Districts and other stakeholders to tackle anti-social behaviour.
• Signpost individuals, particularly young people, towards positive activities, services and support programmes.
• Manage conflict professionally and build positive relationships within the community.
• Deliver community safety advice and promote prevention initiatives.
• Support city-wide campaigns, operations and community safety projects.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
• Contribute to service improvements and performance targets.

Experience in community safety, enforcement, security, policing, customer service, housing, youth engagement or a related field would be beneficial, although transferable skills and the right attitude are equally important.
